Face It, Art Makes Time
Hunter's Creek Elementary School's P.T.A. has a fund raiser each school year. In 2007, Jennifer Lehane was in charge of the class project. Her idea was to get me involved. I went to the school's art class for a week. And we discovered that in 1907 Picasso painted his self portrait. The artists were shown his portrait and 100 years after he painted his portrait the artists painted their own self portrait. Working with Margaret Dunwoody, the Art Teacher, and Jennifer's Volunteers, the artists made their own Picasso face. I assembled the faces into a painting, a class portrait. The artists rocked the opening at the Winter Street Gallery . The art was sold in a silent auction and raised $17,000 for the school.
